Short Traverse Rock is a climbing area in Tilden Regional Park in California, on land managed by a regional agency. It sits in the park's network of climbing spots and trails, with several other destinations within about a tenth of a mile. Late summer into early fall is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Berkeley show highs around 75 to 76°F in August and September, with only one or two wet days a month. That station sits well below the park, so temperatures at the climbing areas run cooler. Main Rock and Diagonal Traverse Rock are both climbing areas about 0.1 mile away. The Upper Jordan Fire Trail is a hike at the same distance, and Grizzly Peak Trail is about 0.2 mile off.
