The Room is a climbing area in California, about 7 miles from the town of Callahan. It sits right beside two other climbing areas, Plasma Wall and Lover's Leap (Limestone), each about 0.1 mile away, so it works well as part of a day spent exploring the cluster of crags in this corner of the state. The climbing here is all sport, and the routes run from about 5.11c up to 5.14a. The hardest is 50 Pounds of Wax at 5.14a, and the First Born Project and Tears In Rain are both 5.13b. Blood Sacrifice, also known as Bouncing Around the Room, is 5.13a, and The Loft is the easiest at 5.11c. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Shasta show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 78°F, with fewer wet days than the winter months. That station sits about 1,200 feet lower than the crag, so temperatures at the climbing area run cooler. The East Fork Scott River, about 1.3 miles away, offers paddling, and Kangaroo Lake is a hike about 3.4 miles off. For an overnight, Kangaroo campground is about 3.6 miles away, and Scott Mountain campground is about 6.3 miles away.
