Pothole Dome is a climbing area in Yosemite National Park, within the Yosemite Wilderness, about 1.9 miles from Tuolumne Meadows Campground. The National Park Service manages the land, and the site sits at the same elevation as the Tuolumne Meadows weather station, about 8,700 feet. The climbing here is mostly sport, with a single mixed route, and the YDS grades range from 5.5 to 5.11b. The most straightforward options are Pick Your Poison Right at 5.5 and Christmas Tree Center at 5.6, while Potluck at 5.11b is the hardest of the listed routes. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical July averages from the nearby Tuolumne Meadows weather station run around 71°F for highs and 38°F for lows, while winter months average highs in the low 40s and lows near 12°F. Several other climbing areas sit within a mile, including The Gunks, Razor Back and North Face, and the Budd Lake Trail is a short hike away.
