Outer Mongolia is a climbing area in the Joshua Tree Wilderness, part of Joshua Tree National Park in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits within designated wilderness, so park rules for wilderness areas apply here. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Yucca Valley show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 80°F, while summer highs climb into the mid-90s. That station sits well below the wilderness, so temperatures up high run cooler. The area is a cluster of climbing spots. Siberia is about 0.1 mile away and Asian Friends Buttress about 0.2 mile. West Mongolia is about 0.4 mile off, and Atom Smasher Boulders about 0.6 mile. For hiking, Willow Hole Trail is about 1.1 mile away.
