Mushroom Boulder is a sport climbing area in California's Angeles National Forest, within the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the boulder sits among several other climbing spots that make this corner of the San Gabriel Mountains a compact, clustered destination. The routes here are all sport, and the grade range runs from 5.8 up to 5.13c. The names of the climbs are as colorful as the boulder itself, with routes like Mushroom, Fungus and Vicious Spore. The hardest of them, Vicious Spore, is a 5.13c first ascent by Louie Anderson in 1998. Kill the Spore, a 5.11b/c, is another Anderson route. Ramblin' Wall and Freezer Burn Wall are both about 0.1 mile away, and Eagles Roost Buttress is the same distance. For a break from the crag, the South Fork Trail lies about 1.7 miles off, and the Buckhorn campground is roughly 2.2 miles away.
