Mantel Boulder is a bouldering area in the San Jacinto Ranger District of San Bernardino National Forest, in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among several climbing and hiking spots close together. The closest are Cat Boulder and South Ridge Boulders, each about 0.1 mile away, along with the Lower South Ridge hike. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes spread across the V0 to V4 range on the V scale. Problem B is V0-, Problem A is V0, and Problem E is V4. The area is close enough to the South Ridge hike that a walk and a climb can be combined in one outing. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 72°F, with fewer wet days than winter months, which see snow on a few days a month. Nearby options include the San Jacinto - Santa Rosa Mountains Recreation Area, about 1.3 miles off, and Fern Basin campground, about 4.4 miles away.
