It sits within the park's state park unit, about 0.1 mile from the Upper Tier climbing area, making the two a natural pairing for a visit. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Cuyamaca show May highs around 67°F with lows near 44°F, and October highs around 69°F with lows near 42°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the park's higher ground, so expect cooler temperatures up top. Several trails start close by.
