It sits in a cluster of climbing spots, with Roadside Hide aka Cardiac Cliff just 0.1 mile away and 44 Secrets about 0.6 mile off, so it works well as a base for a day of bouldering or sport climbing close to town. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Manzanita Lake weather station, which sits about 870 feet lower than the Lassen Area, show July highs around 79°F with lows near 46°F, while winter highs stay in the low 40s. For a change from the rock, Reflection Lake and Manzanita Lake Day Use Area are both about 4 miles away.
