The Headwall is a sport climbing area in California's San Bernardino National Forest, within the Front Country Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among a cluster of climbing spots in the district. The climbing here is all sport, with eight routes spread across the grade range of 5.10a to 5.12b. The middle of that range is around 5.11b/c. Among the routes are "Battery" at 5.12b, "Mold (aka Ravens Roost)" at 5.11b/c, and "Call it what you want" at 5.10d. The most comfortable months for a visit run from late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lake Arrowhead show June highs around 76°F and September highs around 74°F, with only a day or two of wet weather each month. Winter brings highs in the mid-40s and a few snow days a month. Middle Tier and (c) Frustration Creek are both about a tenth of a mile away. Oak Glen Divide is roughly 1.7 miles off, and Barton Flats campground lies about 7 miles away.
