Cliffs of Insanity is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land in California's Barstow Field Office, about 0.1 mile from the Scott Cosgrove Memorial Buttress, The Getaway and Twin Towers. The area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and the surrounding rock is a cluster of named climbing spots, with Raven Rocks South and Raven Rocks West (Warm-up Wall) also within a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is all sport, with five routes ranging from 5.7 to 5.10+. Uncle Funs Basement is the easiest at 5.7, and Red Headed She Devil is the hardest at 5.10+. All the routes were first ascended by Geoff Fullerton. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Victorville show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 90s. That station sits about 1,100 feet lower than the cliffs, so temperatures up high run cooler. Sawtooth Canyon Campground is about 0.6 mile away. Farther out, the Farly Mine Trail is about 8 miles off and the Mojave River is about 9 miles away.
