Brother Boulder is a bouldering area in the Mammoth Ranger District of Inyo National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Sister Boulder just 0.1 mile away and Dog Boulder about 0.4 mile off. Lake George Campground and Lake Mary Campground are both within about a third of a mile, making it easy to base a trip here. The climbing is all bouldering, with seven routes ranging from V0 to V4. Kid Brother is the easiest at V0, and Big Brother is the hardest at V4. The routes are named Problem A, Problem B, Problem D and Problem E, with Problem E at V1+. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mammoth Lakes show July highs around 78°F and lows near 49°F, while winter highs stay around 41°F. That station sits about 1,150 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The Barrett Lake to Lake Mary hike and the Mammoth Crest hike both start about 0.2 mile away.
