Texas Road is a short mountain biking route in California's Shasta-Trinity National Forest, within the Mt. Shasta Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a 1.3-mile out-and-back that climbs about 168 feet from a low point of 4,005 feet to a high of 4,194 feet. It is a hard route, and the climb is over the course of the full trip. The most comfortable months for riding are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Shasta show May highs around 68°F with lows near 40°F, and September highs around 78°F with lows near 44°F. The station sits several hundred feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the climb run cooler. The Deer Creek Rainbow Ridge Trail starts about 0.4 miles away, and the Rainbow Ridge Trail is about 0.6 miles off. Climbers can head to The Cube, about 1.3 miles away, and paddlers can try Wagon Creek, about 1.7 miles from the route.
