Straw is a short, easy hike in the Mi-Wok Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest in California, about a mile long and roughly 75 feet of elevation gain from the low point of 4,883 feet to the high of 4,972 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced, with horses and bikes both allowed. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and October, when typical averages from the nearby Cherry Valley Dam weather station run around 70°F for highs and 44°F for lows, with only a few wet days. July and August are the warmest, with highs near 89°F. The trail is open year-round. Fraser Flat campground sits about 1.2 miles away, and Teleli Pulaya is about 1.3 miles off. The Straw / Fraser Flat Rr Bike Tr hike is about 1.5 miles away, and Pinecrest Day Use, a pier fishing spot, is about 3.3 miles away.
