Roanoak is a hard hike in the Georgetown Ranger District of Eldorado National Forest in California, about 6.4 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 1,745 feet. The trail rises from a low point of 819 feet to a high of 2,575 feet, and it is an out-and-back route. The trail is on natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Georgetown show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 74°F, while July and August average about 91°F. The Western States Trail passes about 1.2 miles away, and Canyon Creek offers canoeing about 2.1 miles off. Dru Barner Campground sits about 4.5 miles away, and the Auburn SRA climbing area is about 8.2 miles away.
