Half Moon is a hard hike in California's Marble Mountain Wilderness, part of the Ukonom Ranger District of Six Rivers National Forest. The trail is an out-and-back route of about 7.6 miles, with a one-way elevation gain of 942 feet, starting at roughly 4,520 feet and reaching a high point of about 5,246 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, but bikes are not permitted. That makes it a good fit for riders on foot or horseback, and the route's length and climb mean planning for a full day on the trail. Several other hikes sit close by. Torgerson is about 0.1 mile away, Round Meadow about 0.6 mile, and Mccash about 0.8 mile. For paddling, Wooley Creek is about 5.4 miles off.
