Deep Creek is a hard hike in the Golden Trout Wilderness, part of the Western Divide Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back of about 8.4 miles with a one-way elevation gain of 1,896 feet, from a low point of about 6,400 feet to a high of about 8,300 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Lodgepole weather station, about 27 miles away, show July and August highs around 76°F with lows in the mid-40s and only a couple of wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the upper 30s and regular snow days. The trail is on natural surface, and horses are allowed. Bikes are not. Nearby, Coyote Lakes is about 1.5 miles away, and the Little Kern River offers canoeing about 2 miles off. Burnt Corral Meadow and Quaking Aspen campground are both within about 8 miles.
