Coon Creek Loop is an easy, short hike in the Lower Trinity Ranger District of Six Rivers National Forest in California. It covers about 2.4 miles with an elevation gain of 317 feet, rising from a low point of about 1,170 feet to a high of roughly 1,490 feet. The trail is an out-and-back route on natural surface, and bikes are allowed, so it works for hikers and riders alike. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 78°F with lows near 44°F, and October highs around 74°F with lows near 41°F. Midsummer highs climb into the mid-90s, while winter brings frequent rain and occasional snow. The trail is open year round, and South Fork Trinity starts just 0.1 mile away. The Gargoyle and Main Wall climbing areas sit about 1.6 miles off, and Sucker Lake is about 4 miles away.
