Penny Pines is a Forest Service campground in the Upper Lake Ranger District of Mendocino National Forest in California. It sits among a cluster of short trails, with Millhouse Trail just 0.1 mile away and Elk Mountain Trail and Summit Trail each about 0.2 mile off. Vault toilets are the only amenity listed, and the site charges a fee. That makes it a simple base for a day of hiking in the surrounding area rather than a full-service campsite. Several other campsites lie within a few miles, including Deer Valley and Middle Creek, both about 3.5 miles away. Paddlers can head to West Fork Middle Creek, roughly 3.3 miles off, or Rice Fork, about 4.6 miles away.
