About

Sue-meg State Park is a public ocean beach on the far north California coast, about 2 miles from the community of Big Lagoon, within the Humboldt-Del Norte Unit. Facilities include restrooms and accessible access. A fee is charged, and dogs are allowed. Summer and early fall are the driest, mildest stretch. At a nearby weather station in Arcata-Eureka, typical July highs run around 63°F with about five wet days, while September averages reach about 65°F. Winter months bring cooler highs in the mid-50s and frequent rain. Several spots sit within a few tenths of a mile of the beach. The Ceremonial Rock Trail and the Rim Trail are both close by for hiking, and Wedding Rock and Mussel Beach are nearby climbing areas. The California Coastal Trail lies about 6 miles away for a longer outing.
