Olde Port Beach
About
Olde Port Beach is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about 2 miles from the town of Avila Beach. It's a free, straightforward place to spend a day by the water. Restrooms are on site, the beach has accessible access, and swimming is allowed. Late summer into fall is the driest, mildest stretch. Typical averages from the nearby Pismo Beach weather station show highs around 71 to 73°F from August through October, with lows in the mid-50s and only a few wet days a month. There is no fee to visit, and dogs are allowed, so it works well for an easy outing with a pet. If you want to add a walk, the Ontario Ridge Trail and Sycamore Crest Trail both start within about 2 miles, and the Shell Beach Bluff Trail is just a bit farther. Climbers can head to Grime Dog Wall, about 4.5 miles away.
