Montara State Beach
About
Montara State Beach is a public ocean beach on the California coast, about a mile from the town of Montara. It's a simple, easy-to-use stop: there are restrooms, the beach has accessible access, there's no fee, and dogs are allowed. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late summer into early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Pacifica put September highs around 72°F with lows near 53°F, and rain is rare from June through September, with only one or two wet days a month. Trails sit close by if you want to pair a beach visit with time on foot or bike. Gray Whale Cove Trail is less than a mile away, and the Alta Vista Trail for mountain biking is about a mile off. The Spine Trail and Bluff Trail are both within two miles.
