La Jolla Strand Park

La Jolla Strand Park is a public ocean beach in California, about 0.7 miles from The Muirlands. There is no fee to visit. Winter highs run in the low to mid 60s, with lows around 47°F in December and January, and those months see about seven wet days each. Spring warms gradually, from highs of 64°F in March to 67°F in May, as rain tapers off. Summer and early fall are the warmest and driest stretch. August peaks at a typical high of 74°F and a low of 66°F with essentially no wet days, while July and September both average highs of 72°F. October still holds around 70°F before November cools to 66°F. For the most reliably dry, warm beach days, plan for June through October. Several short trails lie within a few miles. The Scripps Coastal Reserve Biodiversity Trail is about 3.8 miles away, and the Biltmore Trail and Standley Trail are a little farther. For climbing, Rancho Penasquitos Canyon is about 9 miles inland.
