Escondido Creek Beach Stairway

Escondido Creek Beach Stairway is a public ocean beach in California, inside Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and about 0.3 miles from Malibu. As the name suggests, it is reached by a stairway down to the shore. Late summer and early fall are the warmest and driest stretch here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Santa Monica Pier show highs around 70°F in August and September, with rain rare in those months. There is no fee to visit. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, so leave pets at home. Several hikes start within a mile, including the Escondido Canyon Trail to Escondido Falls and the Escondido Trail via the Coastal Slope Trail, both under a mile away. Farther afield, Point Dume is about 3 miles off, and Malibu Creek is roughly 4.7 miles away for paddling.
