The Buffalo River Region is a climbing area in Arkansas, about 2 miles from the town of Ponca. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, fishing and paddling on the Buffalo River, and the Buffalo River Trail, making it a natural base for a day or longer in the area. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 66°F and lows near 44°F in April to highs around 78°F and lows near 59°F in September. That station sits about 500 feet lower than the region, so temperatures here run a little cooler. The area has two climbing styles: sport and bouldering. One route, the Unknown Left Route, is a sport climb graded 5.11. Bubba Boulder is a bouldering area about 2 miles away. Pirate's Cove and Fish Wall are both climbing areas within about 2 miles. The Buffalo River offers fishing, and the Buffalo River Trail is about 6 miles off.
