Lower Looner Land is a climbing area in the Globe Ranger District of Tonto National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Upper Looner Land, Garland Area and The Mine Area all about 0.1 mile away, and The Magma Gardens about 0.2 mile off. The area has 23 routes, mostly sport climbing with a few trad and one boulder problem. The YDS grades run from 5.5 to 5.11b, with the median at 5.9. Among the named routes are Snorkeling in the Rhyolite at 5.5, Riding the Manatee at 5.6 and Two Polacks and a Hilti at 5.11b. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Superior weather station show April highs around 78°F and October highs around 84°F, while July averages near 99°F. That station sits about 1,360 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up high run cooler.
