Chimney Rock is a climbing area in the Santa Catalina Ranger District of Coronado National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among several other climbing areas, with Hearthstone just 0.1 mile away and Lost Hawk and Rollinstone each about 0.2 mile off. General Hitchcock campground is 1.3 miles away, making it the closest place to camp. The area has 33 routes, mostly trad climbing with a few sport and mixed routes. The YDS grade range runs from 5.7 up to 5.12-, with the median at 5.10-. A few examples include Boardwalk at 5.7, Mistaken Identity at 5.9 and Crows Nest at 5.10b, all trad routes. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 68°F, while winter highs stay near 50°F. That station sits about 1,100 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up high run cooler.
