The 235 Road hike is an easy out-and-back on natural trail surface in the Black Mesa Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. The route runs about 8 miles one way, with a low point of 7,536 feet and a high of 7,577 feet, making it a gentle walk with only about 21 feet of elevation gain for the entire trip. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The Rim Top Trailhead is the starting point, and parking is available there. Bikes and horses are both allowed on the trail. The most comfortable months for a visit tend to be late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Heber put May highs around 71°F and September highs around 75°F, with lows near 39°F and 47°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler. The General George Crook National Recreation Trail and the Gray Wolf hike both lie within a third of a mile, and the Sinkhole Campground and Rim Campground are each about 0.6 miles away.
