Chevelon Crossing Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Black Mesa Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. It sits about 19 miles from the Heber (Black Mesa) weather station, which records typical averages that make late spring and early fall the most comfortable times to visit. The station's typical averages run from highs around 71°F in May to about 75°F in September, with lows in the upper 40s. Winter is cold, with January highs near 46°F and lows around 20°F. The campground has vault toilets, and there is no fee to stay. The Chevelon Crossing hike starts just 0.1 mile away, and Durfee Crossing is about 1.2 miles off. Chevelon Canyon Lake Campground is roughly 6.4 miles away, and Chevelon Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 7.4 miles away.
