Tally-ho is a short, easy hike in Monte Sano State Park in Alabama, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is about half a mile long, and it's a low-effort outing that works well as a quick stop or a link between other short routes in the park. The climb is gentle, with a total gain of about 200 feet and a loss of about 320 feet over the course of the hike. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.2 miles in, with a grade of around 8 percent. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 74°F with lows near 47°F, and April highs around 71°F. That station sits well below the park, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Several other trails start close by, including Sinks Trail, Keith Trail and Goat Trail, each about 0.3 miles away, and Panther Knob Trail at about half a mile.
