Slab Creek is a hike in northern Alabama, about 1.5 miles from Holly Springs. The route is an out-and-back of about 5 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 300 feet from a starting point near 780 feet to a high point of about 880 feet. The trail is rated hard, and the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.5 miles in, with a grade of about 22 percent. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not, according to OpenStreetMap tags. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Oneonta weather station show October highs around 75°F with lows near 51°F, and April highs around 74°F. July highs typically reach about 91°F. Several other hikes sit close by, including Forrest Harmony, Creek Loop and Easy Rider, all within a mile. Paddlers can head to Big Canoe Creek, about 1.9 miles away.
