Fallen Oak is a 1.1-mile loop hike in Alabama, about 1.5 miles from the town of Springville. The trail gains about 191 feet, which makes it an easy outing on foot or on a bike. Bicycles are allowed, but horses are not. The climb rises from a low point of 817 feet to a high of 993 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.7 miles, where the grade reaches 19 percent. The route is short enough to fit into a half-hour, and the nearest town is Springville. For comfortable weather, aim for fall. Typical averages from the nearby Oneonta weather station put October highs around 75°F with lows near 51°F, and April runs similar at about 74°F by day and 50°F at night. Several other trails sit close by, including Easy Rider at 0.1 mile, Forrest Harmony at 0.4 mile and Creek Loop at 0.6 mile. For paddling, Big Canoe Creek is about 1.4 miles away.
