About Climax
Climax is an abandoned ski area located in Colorado's high country, now primarily of historical and exploratory interest rather than active recreation. The resort operated decades ago but has since ceased commercial operations, leaving behind a landscape of decommissioned infrastructure and natural terrain. For backcountry enthusiasts and ski mountaineers, the surrounding alpine terrain offers access to ungroomed descents and high-country powder when seasonal conditions permit. The area's elevation and exposure make it suitable for experienced winter recreationists comfortable navigating unmarked terrain and assessing avalanche hazards independently.
