About Cerro Summit
Cerro Summit is an abandoned ski area located in Colorado's high country, now primarily of historical interest to backcountry enthusiasts and ski mountaineers. The site once operated as a modest regional ski resort but has since been decommissioned, leaving behind infrastructure remnants and access points to surrounding alpine terrain. Today, the location serves as a staging area for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing expeditions into the San Juan Mountains, offering access to untracked powder and remote high-altitude bowls for experienced winter adventurers. Summer visitors can explore the area via hiking and mountain biking, accessing meadows and ridgelines with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
