Sawtooth Mountains

The Sawtooth Mountains are a rugged mountain range located in central California, part of the Sierra Nevada mountain system. The range features steep, jagged granite peaks and deep glacial valleys, with numerous alpine lakes and streams. The terrain is characterized by steep, rocky slopes, with many areas above the tree line. The Sawtooth Wilderness, a designated wilderness area, protects much of the range's pristine natural environment.
