San Pedro Peaks

The San Pedro Peaks are a remote and rugged mountain range located in northern New Mexico. Spanning over 25 miles, the range features steep, rocky ridges, alpine meadows, and numerous high-elevation lakes and tarns. The terrain is predominantly granite and metamorphic rock, with dramatic cliffs and talus slopes. Heavily forested slopes of ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and aspen give way to alpine tundra near the summits. Wildlife in the range includes black bear, bighorn sheep, elk, and a variety of birds and smaller mammals.
