San Marcos Mountains

The San Marcos Mountains are a small, rugged mountain range located in northern San Diego County, California. Spanning approximately 15 miles in length, the range features steep, rocky slopes and deeply carved canyons with elevations reaching over 5,500 feet. The terrain is largely composed of chaparral-covered hills and rocky outcroppings, with a few scattered pine and oak forests at higher elevations. The mountains were formed by tectonic plate activity and offer dramatic views across the surrounding valleys and coastal regions.
