Shearwater Adventures

Shearwater Adventures has operated guided sea kayak tours on Orcas Island since 1982, offering multiple trip types across three departure locations. Tours range from 2 to 5 hours and include sheltered Deer Harbor paddles (ages 7+), the strenuous far-side Doe Bay route with Mount Baker views, easy north-shore Eastsound tours with views into Canada, and 2-hour evening bioluminescence paddles where paddle strokes create glowing splashes in the Salish Sea. Full-day island adventures to Jones Island state park include mid-day breaks for trail exploration and tide pools, plus a picnic lunch. Sunset tours launch from Brandt's Landing near Eastsound Village. All tours use stable fiberglass tandem kayaks with spray-skirts, adjustable life jackets, and professional guide service. Wildlife sightings commonly include seals, bald eagles, and harbor porpoise.
