About Haw River Trail
Haw River Trail is a 50-mile paddle trail and 25+ miles of land trail spanning 80 miles along the Haw River across five North Carolina counties, from Haw River State Park through Alamance County to Jordan Lake State Recreational Area. The trail system includes 15 recreational parks and trailheads, paddle camping at Shallow Ford Natural Area and Sellers Falls, and primitive backcountry sites. Founded in 2006, the trail is managed by 12 governmental agencies working to preserve the river corridor while providing access for paddling and hiking. Video guides cover specific sections including Brooks Bridge to Altamahaw, Glencoe to Red Slide Park, and Saxapahaw Mill Race to Union Bridge, with maps and safety information for each paddling area.
