About Creston and Union County Tourism
Creston and Union County Tourism promotes a region in southwest Iowa featuring over 2,100 acres of water across five lakes and more than 6,000 acres of publicly owned parks, woodlands, prairie, and wetlands within a 25-mile radius. The area offers an eight-mile paved Park to Park Trail connecting McKinley Park in Creston to Green Valley State Park, plus six additional miles of grass trails suitable for walking and mountain biking. Green Valley State Park provides 100 campsites with electrical and full hookups, swimming beach, and bass and crappie fishing. The region also preserves significant historical sites including the restored Creston Depot (on the National Register of Historic Places), Mt. Pisgah National Monument marking the Mormon trail westward, and the Union County Historical Village with 15 buildings depicting 1800s rural life. Creston features over 50 murals created since 1983, with 30 concentrated in the Uptown district.
