Canoe Island French Camp

Canoe Island French Camp operates a 50-camper sleepaway program on a 47-acre island in Washington's San Juan Islands, combining French language instruction with traditional summer activities including kayaking, sailing, theater, archery, marine biology, fencing, and French cooking. Half of the camp's counselors are from France and share language, culture, and cuisine with campers of all proficiency levels. The camp maintains a technology-free environment and emphasizes low-pressure learning that engages both beginners and fluent francophones. Family camp sessions and adult programs are also available. The program aims to develop self-reliance, cross-cultural understanding, and conscientious global citizens.
