About Blackwater Adventures Chesapeake Bay
Blackwater Adventures Chesapeake Bay, founded in 2002 by husband-and-wife team Jay and Susan Meredith, operates two locations adjacent to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and at the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay Resort. The business offers guided kayak tours through the serene, brackish waters of the Blackwater River, guided fishing adventures, and bike tours. They also rent power boats and jet skis, and deliver equipment—kayaks, boards, bikes, and boats—to vacation rental homes in Dorchester, Talbot, and Wicomico counties from April through October.
The Meredith family remains actively involved in operations. The original Blackwater location occupies a restored historic building that once served as a tomato cannery and boat-building facility. The company maintains rental equipment and offers group events and shuttle services.
