About Bartram's Garden
Bartram's Garden is a 50-acre public park in Southwest Philadelphia centered on horticulture, history, and the Tidal Schuylkill River. The site features a botanic garden, natural lands, the Bartram's Mile Trail, and the Sankofa Community Farm, which grows food with an African Diaspora focus. The Welcome Center is open Thursday–Monday, 9:30am–4:30pm, with public restrooms available daily. FloatLab, opening in Spring 2027, will be the country's first tide-responsive public platform, designed by artist J. Meejin Yoon and Höweler + Yoon Architecture. Its unique ballast system allows visitors to experience a water-level view of the river as the platform rises and falls with tidal rhythms. Visitors can engage in fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, water quality sampling, art workshops, and environmental education. The Garden offers field trips, youth internships, and year-round programming for all ages.
