About Secor

Secor is a ghost town in Hardin County, Iowa, located about 3.5 miles south-southeast of Eldora. The community operated under two earlier names — Xenia and Delanti — before settling on Secor, and in its earlier days it held a notable distinction as the site of one of the few bridges spanning the Iowa River in the county.

Over time, Secor lost the institutions that defined it as a functioning community: its school, mill, post office, and businesses all disappeared by the mid-20th century, leaving it classified as a ghost town. Visitors today will find little in the way of formal infrastructure or preserved structures, and the site is best approached as a quiet rural landscape with a layered local history rather than a developed heritage destination.
