Mangum

Mangum is a ghost town in Eastland County, Texas, with roots in the late 1890s. Its founding was tied directly to the convergence of two rail lines — the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railway and the Eastland, Wichita Falls and Gulf Railroad — and the community took its name from the Bob Mangum family. At its height in 1915, around 125 people called it home, but the population dwindled sharply over the following decades. By the mid-1930s only a handful of residents remained, and a 2000 estimate put the count at just 15.

Today Mangum offers little in the way of formal attractions. Visitors drawn to the history of small Texas railroad towns may find the setting worth a look, but should expect minimal remains and no developed facilities.
