About Logtown

Once a bustling sawmill and logging community along the Pearl River in Hancock County, Mississippi, Logtown has long since faded into history. The town now exists as a ghost town within the vast 125,000-acre acoustic buffer zone surrounding NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center, a designation that effectively preserved the silence of the land while sealing off much of its past from development.

Visitors today will find little in the way of standing structures — the site is absorbed into the buffer zone landscape rather than maintained as a formal historic attraction. The Pearl River setting provides a natural backdrop, but the practical realities of accessing land within a federal buffer zone mean that exploration here requires awareness of any access restrictions tied to the Stennis Space Center.
