Ingham

Ingham is a ghost town in Lincoln County, Nebraska, born from the expansion of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in 1886. The site was deliberately chosen for its relatively flat terrain along what is now Highway 23, occupying a narrow stretch of level ground between the small communities of Farnam and Moorefield. Its earliest residents were dryland farmers and ranchers working the surrounding land.

The settlement grew steadily enough to support a post office by 1898, and a local high school eventually sent its first graduating class out into the world in 1924. Today Ingham is largely gone, a quiet remnant of rural Nebraska's railroad-era settlement history. Visitors traveling Highway 23 pass through without much indication that a functioning community once stood here.
