About Dido
Dido is a ghost town sitting on the eastern shore of Eagle Mountain Lake in Tarrant County, Texas, roughly 16 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Its decline traces back to the railroad expansion of the 1890s, which routed lines elsewhere and left the community without the economic lifeline that kept so many Texas towns alive. Without rail access, Dido was gradually abandoned.
Visitors today will find little in the way of formal remains or infrastructure — this is a quiet, largely vanished settlement best approached as a scenic and historically curious stop near the lakeshore rather than a destination with preserved structures. The surrounding landscape and waterfront setting of Eagle Mountain Lake provide the main draw for those who make the trip.
