DeNoon

DeNoon is a ghost town in Pinal County, Arizona, situated about 13 miles southwest of Superior. It was established in 1889 by James DeNoon Reymert, who also gave the town its name. The settlement existed to support milling operations for the Reymert Mine, located roughly 2 miles away.

The town gained enough residents to warrant its own post office, which opened in March 1890. That post office closed within a year, and the community itself faded away shortly after. Its rise and fall played out in just a couple of years.

Visitors today will find a remote desert site with little to no structural remains — DeNoon vanished too quickly and too long ago to leave much behind. The draw is the stark Pinal County landscape and the sense of a place that barely had time to exist. Access is along rural roads, and Arizona's intense summer heat makes cooler months the far safer and more comfortable time to explore.
