About Dayton

Dayton was a short-lived town in Lake County, Colorado, that once occupied the ground where Twin Lakes now sits. It sprang up during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush alongside other nearby communities like Granite and Oro City, but when the local mining industry collapsed, Dayton disappeared just as fast as it had appeared.

Today the town is extinct, absorbed entirely by the Twin Lakes area. Visitors will not find ruins or visible remnants of Dayton itself — the site lives on only in the historical record.
