About Copperfield

Copperfield is a ghost town in Baker County, Oregon, occupying a riverside site where the Snake River meets the north bank of Pine Creek, just downstream from the Snake River feature known as The Oxbow. Nothing of the original town survives as a functioning settlement — Idaho Power manages the former town site today as Copperfield Park.

Visitors arriving at Copperfield Park will find a recreation area rather than historic ruins. The setting along the Snake River is the main draw, and the location is also noted in federal geographic records as a variant name for nearby Oxbow, Oregon, reflecting how closely the two places are tied together in this stretch of the river corridor.
